Mobile web overlay for warehouse picking

The warehouse needed mobile barcode scanning and fast stock checks to speed up picking. But the central backend was a rigid, complex SAP R/3 installation that couldn't be changed easily.

As a two-person team, we designed a lean, mobile-optimized web overlay that sits directly on top of the SAP transaction layer without touching the core.

Together with an onshore-offshore development partner in Hungary, we built the interfaces so that they matched the fast, physical scanning pace of the warehouse staff.

Picking speed rose noticeably, without any expensive or risky intervention in the central SAP architecture.

The warehouse gained modern mobile capture, while the proven enterprise IT stayed untouched.
